A Short Film and a Sweet App

Hello and happy Friday!

Let me introduce you to Raymond McGrath. He’s an animator and Animation Director in New Zealand, and he reads this blog. I love that. And he’s crazy talented. Not only did he write and illustrate a picture book called It’s Not a Monster, It’s Me!, but he also wrote the catchiest tune and created a stop-motion short to go along with it.

I was gobsmacked. Gobblefunked. Or something.

I loved it so much. You will, too:

So good. So nice to meet you, Raymond!

Are you awesome? Have cool things the rest of us need to see and enjoy?! Email me! I get THE BEST emails from my readers and so a GINORMO-MONDO THANK YOU for being here and reading this and hanging out in this corner of the internet. That means you, too, Figgy. You know who you are!

Also. I tweeted this truth the other day, but I have been stalking this app’s release whoa-hurry-big-time. It’s free, and it is a brilliant blend of digital and analog and it is superb. Watch this! Go there! Get it!

Happy weekend!

Now that’s how you do a book trailer. Awesome. I downloaded Drawnimal and can’t wait to try it out with my son. Thanks for that! Have you seen the Petting Zoo app by Christoph Niemann? You’d love it.

The short film was beautiful and such fun, and how wonderful that it was made with cut outs from the book. What a gifted artist!

So…this may seem a little strange, but this is actually the very FIRST time I have ever posted a comment online, but I just had to say something…and here it is –
My goodness! I literally blushed at some of these comments! Honestly, I’m just a regular guy who likes to draw and write and create content for his kids and share it as much as I can. Nothing more, nothing less.
To hear people genuinely enjoy something I have made is very humbling and it’s an honor to be able to do it for you all (especially our children!).
Add to that someone like Carter who, with their clever writing, sharp wit, and keen eye, pull us all together around the water cooler and say ‘Have you seen this? Because you NEED to!’
Well, we are all the more richer for it!
Thank you so much Carter. Thank you ALL for being kind enough to give feedback.
I hope you continue to get a bit of a kick out of this for a while and share it with your little ones.
    I made it for us.
There will be more stories and songs and videos too (hopefully). You will all be the first to see them when they are finally set free…

    Keep Smiling!

(was that too long for a first ever post?)
